Whether sledding or skiing, throwing snowballs or building a snowman, you can look good this winter if you have the proper accessories. There are many trendy accessories that you can add to your wardrobe for the winter that can add warmth while spicing up an outfit. Below are some of the must-have accessories for winter:

• Coats—while this may be a given, there are a few tips to follow when trying to find the perfect winter coat to wear when it’s cold. When shopping for the perfect winter coat, you should try them on over clothes you would typically wear with it. Make sure that it fits comfortably and allows a full range of mobility. Shrug your shoulders, swing your arms, raise them over your head and swing them side to side. You should be able to move comfortably in your coat of choice. Make sure that the one you choose looks flattering on you. Fitted waits look great on everybody and have a natural slimming effect. Pea coats and double breasted jackets, on the other hand, can over-emphasize a heavy set frame.

• Scarves—these are an excellent addition to any winter wardrobe, and they are inexpensive enough that you can purchase a few of them to add variety and interest to your winter clothing. Whether you choose a designer scarf made by the likes of Versace and Burberry or a cheaper scarf, you can find ones that will add dimension to your wardrobe and show off your personality while keeping your neck and face warm.

• Gloves—whether you choose to wear gloves or mittens (mittens keep your fingers warmer but you don’t have as much function ability as with gloves), these are a must-have for any winter wardrobe as well. Not only are they a necessary accessory for their ability to keep your fingers and hands from freezing, they can also add that extra little something to your outfit. Gloves and mittens come in several fabrics and are made by several different designers. You can also opt for cheaper gloves and buy several so that you have a pair for almost every winter outfit in your closet. For a more hip and trendy look in your gloves, consider some gloves that have a fashionable print or faux fur trim.

There are many additional winter wardrobe accessories that you may feel you must have, but these are the most basic that everyone needs. If you are budget-conscious, you can eliminate the need to buy many pieces by sticking with basic, neutral colors. This way, your coat, scarf or gloves will go with almost any clothes you put on.
