What Is a Slot?
A slot is a specific time or place for an aircraft to take off or land. Air traffic controllers use a system of slots to keep takeoffs and landings spaced out, so they can safely manage the flow of aircraft. Airlines apply for a slot at an airport and are approved or denied based on several factors, including availability and past performance.
In slots, players insert cash or, in “ticket-in, ticket-out” machines, a paper ticket with a barcode into the designated slot, which activates the reels.
